Most members are here for the right reasons, but a few are not. These simple habits keep you safe while you get to know someone.
Do not send money, gifts, bank details or card numbers to anyone you met on this site, however urgent or sad their story sounds. Requests for money for travel, visas, medical bills, customs fees or investments are a sign of a scam.
Do not share your home address, workplace, financial information or identity documents until you know and trust the person. Be careful with photos you would not want shared.
Let a family member or friend know who you are talking to. Before meeting, tell them who you are meeting, where and when, and check in with them afterwards.
Meet for the first time in a busy public place such as a cafe or restaurant. Arrange your own transport, and do not go to the other person's home or invite them to yours. Consider bringing a family member along.
Be wary of anyone who avoids meeting or video calls, whose story keeps changing, who pushes you to move off this site quickly, or who declares strong feelings very early. If something feels wrong, stop contacting them.
If a member asks you for money, harasses you or seems fake, open your conversation with them under Messages and click Report Spam. You can also Block User from the same page so they cannot contact you again, or contact us. If you are in danger, contact your local police.
